Heart Chalk Walk

The flow of blood throughout the circulatory system is endless. Oxygen-poor blood enters the right side of the heart through the superior vena cava and the inferior vena cava. The superior vena cava collects blood from the upper half of the body and the inferior vena cava collects blood from the lower half. Then, it enters the right atrium, and when it contracts, it passes through the tricuspid valve and enters the right ventricle. When the right ventricle contracts, blood is pumped through the pulmonary valve to the pulmonary trunk and into the pulmonary artery. It leaves the pulmonary artery and goes out to the lungs where oxygen is picked up.
Oxygen-rich blood now enters the left side of the heart from the lungs through the pulmonary veins. It enters into the left atrium, when it contracts, blood travels through the bicuspid valve and into the left ventricle. Then the blood is pumped through the aortic valve and into the aorta and out to the body.
